Installation of PVC TPO EPDM membrane waterproofing in Cyprus

Technologies and materials used by RENI construction

TPO membranes

  • TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) are special soft roofing sheets that are reinforced and contain UV stabilisers, fillers, pigments and flame retardants.

  • TPO membranes consist of a weldable blend of polypropylene and ethylene propylene rubber, which keeps them flexible at all temperatures.

  • TPO membranes are available in a variety of colours (white, grey, brown) and thicknesses, and typically come with a 30-year warranty.

  • TPO can be installed in two ways: mechanical fastening or full adhesion.

  • TPO roofing systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their high resistance to UV rays, especially in warmer climates.

  • Due to its ability to reflect approximately 87% of the UV rays off the roof surface, TPO helps to reduce cooling loads and offers protection against environmental and chemical contaminants as well as wear, tears and punctures, making it a versatile and reliable material.

  • In addition, TPO provides LEED qualification and some membranes are ENERGY STAR rated and approved for cool roof ratings.

PVC membranes

  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membranes are excellent at handling chemical influence and are highly versatile.

  • Regardless of colour, thickness, width and reinforcement, they are ideal for any commercial roofing project.

  • The roofs are installed with a heat-welded seam which provides water resistance and protection from harsh chemicals.

  • Because of its durability, PVC is a reliable choice for restaurants, airports and other commercial facilities where there is a risk of grease, oil and chemicals, as well as environments with diluted acidic runoff.

  • Approved by the Cool Roof rating, white reflective PVC roofing panels have a surface that creates a cooling effect that helps reduce cooling costs in warmer Energy Star climates.

EPDM membranes

(ethylene propylene diene monomer)

  • EPDM, also known as "rubber roofing", is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane that is widely used in buildings with low slopes. It is made from two main ingredients, ethylene and propylene, which are derived from petroleum and natural gas.

  • EPDM is available in black or white colour and comes in a variety of widths and thicknesses. It can be installed using a variety of methods including full adhesion, mechanical fastening or ballasting. The seams of the roofing system are sealed with special adhesive or tape.

  • Solar UVA and UVB rays have no effect on the EPDM roofing system, allowing it to last up to 30 years with proper installation and maintenance.

  • In addition, EPDM has excellent resistance to harsh chemicals, diluted mineral acids and vegetable oils.

  • In the summer, the EPDM rubber coating reflects heat to reduce cooling costs. And in the winter months, it acts as an effective insulator, helping to reduce heating costs.
